Location

As with the Date search the option to select locational search parameters is through the use of a 'radio box'. The options offered are:

purple dot All........all locations
purple dot Point.......a circular search area
purple dot Area.......a box search area
purple dot Textual location.......Text search
To enter you search point location you have to type into the form field the latitude and longitude of the point your search is to be centred on. For point locations the search area will be a circle centred on your chosen point. To adjust the size of the circle's radius you have to type in the circle' radius into the radius form field. The maximum value is 40030km which is the radius of the Earth.

If you dont know exactly the coordinate values of your search area why not try the Location Help page.

Remember: the clickable map is for point locations only.

The area search enables you to select NORTHWEST and SOUTHEAST coordinates to define a box. As with the point locations you have to type in the latitude and longitude of your search parameters.

The textual location option may be the best option for the casual user since no coordinates are needed. However, this function is only available for records after August 1995 because textual location was not available in the archive data. There are plans to extend this to all the data.
